This is a scarce factory engraved Marlin No. 32 Standard 1875 Pocket Revolver with standard nickel plated finish and two-piece custom silver plated bronze bird's head grips. The grips are a deep relief cast with floral vine patterns on the left panel and the figure of a woman bordered by floral vine on the right side. Around the screw on the left side is marked "PAT - APR - 28 - 74". (The grips were made by Wexell & Degress.) This revolver is one of approximately 19,500 1875 Pocket Revolvers made from 1853-1887. The top of the barrel is marked "No 32 STANDARD 1875". The left side of the barrel is marked "J.M. MARLIN NEW HAVEN CT U.S.A. PAT JULY 1,1873". The matching serial number is stamped on the left side of the frame beneath the grip, on the rear face of the cylinder and in the inside of the barrel lug. The right side of the barrel, cylinder flats and frame are engraved with floral scroll designs with a punch dot background, the back strap has a floral design at the top and simple line designs below, the top of the frame has a feather design and the left side barrel marking is bordered with a scallop and dot design above and below, with floral scroll on each end. All nickel finish with casehardened hammer and trigger.

Condition: Very fine. The revolver retains 90% of the original nickel finish with scattered minor flaking and some thinning on the left side of the frame. The hammer retains 50% of the original faded case colors. The grips are excellent with some wear on the high edges and sharp engraving. The markings and engraving retain crisp and clear. The cylinder doesn't lock up, otherwise the action is fine.
