In the midst of battle, the only goal and mission of the samurai is tofollow the ethic code of bushido, the way of the warrior. The Japanesewarrior holds a strong stance with his knees bent, his chest forward, and his powerful and symbolic sword in his obedient hands above hishead. Wearing uniquely embedded armor to protect him from wounds, samurai warriors held only two options: victory or death. Warriors would often choose to commit ritual suicide called seppuku if theywere ever defeated in battle, for they failed to stay loyal to theethic code of bushido. This warrior is no different than the othermillions of Japanese samurai whom sacrifice their lives for the dutyof the country. The handmade bronze sculpture was cast using thearchaic method of lostwax casting and stained with a brown patinafinish forperpetuation. She is mounted upon a black marble base.
