She stands on her tip toes as she outstretches her arms to hold up a beautiful arrangement of flowers. The flowers are strung together beautifully and she holds them up as if she is offering them to a someone. Her dress has exquisite detail; flowers cover her breasts and are seen on the pattern of the dress as well. The dress has a solid trim which has round studs on it. You can see this around the neck and arms as well as the bottom part of the dress. It looks almost as if the trim has a fringe at the bottom. She wears a very detailed head piece which falls down to her shoulders farming her face. Her sandals are remarkable with the utmost detail. The strap around her ankle and foot with a leather like fabric around the foot, even her toes are exquisite. This is remarkable bronze sculpture that was casted using the “Lost Wax Method†which insures quality detail and has the artist signature, Chiparus. This bronze sculpture has a brown patina and is mounted on a black marble plinth. Demetre Haralamb Chiparus (also known as Dumitru Chipru; 16 September 1886, Dorohoi, Romania - 22 January 1947, Paris, France) was a Romanian Art Deco era sculptor who lived and worked in Paris. He was born in Romania, the son of Haralamb and Saveta. In 1909 he went to Italy, where he attended the classes of Italian sculptor Raffaello Romanelli. In 1912 he traveled to Paris to attend the Ecole des Beaux Arts to pursue his art at the classes of Antonin Mercie and Jean Boucher. Demetre Chiparus died in 1947 and was buried in Bagneux cemetery, just south of Paris. Condition: This sculpture is in a very good condition.
