Smith & Wesson Victory Model Double Action Revolver, #V471414, .38 Spec. cal., 4'' barrel, parkerized finish, smooth walnut grips, topstrap marked ''U.S. Property G.H.D.'', with fixed combat sights. Bottom strap marked with flaming bomb. Right side of frame under the ''Made in USA'' mark has a section where an unknown mark has been obliterated. The accompanying Jinks letter shows that one pistol with this serial number was shipped 12/15/43 to the U.S. Navy, and another with the same serial number was shipped 1/17/44 to the city of Dayton, Ohio. The letter indicates that pistols shipped to non-government entities would not be U.S. Property marked and that the Requestor could determine if his was shipped to the Navy by U.S. Property marks. The presumption is that this particular revolver was a U.S. Navy delivered pistol. Condition is very good retaining approx. 80% parkerized finish turning to patina overall, including hammer and trigger. Grips are excellent with most of the original finish remaining, showing no cracks or losses. Action is tight with good lockup and timing, bore is bright. Est.: $500-$750. (C&R/PPT)
