As Manigault's Brigade approached the Federal line they received heavy fire from the artillery at the cut, but with a spirited charge the brigade a whole overtook the enemy's breastwork. With a foothold near and at the cut they captured the battery Co. * A and then turned left and rolled up the Federal line. Lightburn's Ohio regiments in the front yard of the Hurt House broke and fled, leaving without support just north of the house, the famous DeGress Battery, Co. H of the 1st Illinois Artillery. Captain * Francis DeGress turned his four 20 pound parrots left and with cannister tried to half the Confederate onslaught, but could not. The guns were taken and the Federal line belonged to Manigault's brigade, as least for a while. * * * Artist: Rick Reeves * * Title: Into the Fury * * Medium: Print on paperEdition: 201/450Date: 1990Signature: Signed and numbered by the artist in pencilImage Size: 18" x 21 1/2" * * Paper Size: 22" x 24 1/2"Condition: ExcellentAuthenticity: Collector Military Art * * * Biography * * Rick Reeves (1959- ) combines exquisite detail with incredible authenticity as one of the country’s leading historical artists.
