This is an example of a "US Air Force" M4 bolt action survival rifle. These rifles were developed during World War II and were intended as a survival rifle for downed fighter pilots and bomber crews. They were not really intended as defensive weapon but more for hunting and survival. They saw service well into the late 1950s and early 1960s with B-52 bomber crews. They were manufactured by the H&R company in the Drummondville, in the Providence of Quebec, Canada and had a short take down barrel with sliding wire stock, and the rifle measured 22 inches overall with the stock closed. They had a post front sight with raised guards, and a Lyman 55H rear sight and the side of the receiver is marked "RIFLE, SURVIVAL CAL .22 M4". This beautiful example has all matching numbers on the various parts.
BBL: 14 inch round
Gauge: 22 hornet
Serial Number: 3752
Condition: Refinished with 99% of the blue finish showing only minor wear overall. As noted it has matching numbers on the various parts and has an excellent, bright shiny bore with strong rifling. The 22 Hornet cartridge is still readily available and would be a super little rifle to take to the range. NOTE: This weapon is registered (and transferable) and is classified as a Short Barreled Rifle under the National Firearms Act, and it is the bidder's responsibility to ensure compliance with all relevant Federal, State and local laws before bidding on this arm. Federal transfer application applies.
