Rare pellet lock rifled carbine by Samuel Nock, circa approx. 1825. Reference: Guns and Rifles of the World by Howard Blackmore, page 316 for identical mechanism. The carbine measures 38” overall with 24” thick-walledrifled barrel of approx. .62 caliber. The lock is nicely signed “Samuel Nock” in block letters beneath the hammer and shows a maker’s cartouche inlaid into the breech with silver overlay and a silver band. The lockis engraved with a boar and the tang is also engraved. The rifle is mounted with double-set triggers and shows a v-notch rear sight and blade front sight. The gun remains in fair to good condition with some cleaningand wear to the locks and about 50% of an old striped pattern English rebrown on the barrel. The stocks are fair to good with some wear and light refreshing, minor imperfections. A very interesting hunting gun by a major English maker. Est: $1,500 - $3,000.
