It is estimated that less than 1% of the total Model 1892 production was in the musket configuration. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address/patent dates ahead of the rear sight and the breech end is marked "44W.C.F." over the Winchester oval proof, which is also marked on the top of the receiver at the breech. The upper tang is marked "MODEL 1892/-WINCHESTER-/TRADE MARK" and the serial number appears on the bottom of the receiver. Blade front sight, folding ladder rear sight graduated to 800 yards and mounted with a smooth full length forearm secured by two barrel bands and straight grip stock with carbine buttplate, with cleaning rod compartment, (not included) and sling swivel on the stock and forward barrel band. Manufactured in 1906. Complete with an original Winchester triangular socket bayonet correctly left in the white and unmarked. Winchester had high hopes of selling these muskets to the U.S. Government as well and civilians, however orders never came about.
