Rare 1876 open-top lever-action rifle with 3-digit serial number, .45-75 caliber, factory 28” octagon barrel, full magazine, rifle butt. The metal surfaces show some cleaning and light applied brown finish which is well done and a good visible barrel address. There is some scattered erosion and pinprick pitting and the stock is fair and shows some sanding and a crack opening at the wrist. The rifle shows a correct early heavy buttplate with reinforced toe. The front sight blade is an old replacement. The rear sight shows a Winchester three-leaf folding sight which is from a 73 but has been with the rifle a long time. The action is good,bore is rough. The rifle has seen frontier use. Three-digit opentops are difficult to obtain and this is one of the lower known 1876 serial numbers at #465. Est: $3,000 - $6,000
