Fitted with a front sight that doubles as a bayonet lug and an adjustable rear notch sight. Left side of the receiver is marked with the five line patent/address marking, with "E" on the breechblock and "K" on the hammer. Smooth straight grip stock with two barrel bands and "E" marked buttplate. The left side of the wrist is stamped with a "DWM inspector mark indicating that this rifle was part of a 3000 rifle Canadian contract circa 1866. (Note: Historically Canadian contract rifles are seen with a full stock fastened by three barrel bands to a 36 inch barrel in 50-60 rimfire caliber. Further research may produce interesting results in understanding the discrepancies between this rifle and the historically recorded Canadian contract rifle.)
BBL: 33 inch round
Serial Number: nsn
Condition: Fine. The barrel retains 50% original blue finish with minor spotting overall. The receiver, breechblock, hammer, and lever retain over 40% original case colors with some minor spotting. The buttplate has deep pitting. There is a minor crack along the grain on the right side of the buttstock near the buttplate, otherwise the stock is excellent with some very scattered minor handling marks and a shallow chip missing near the lock plate. The cartouche is clear and crisp. Mechanically fine.
