Shivaji Rao II, Silver Portrait Nazarana Rupee, 11.02g, Milled coinage- 3rd series, VS 1958, Obv: Bust of Maharaja Shivaji Rao II facing slightly left, continuous Devnagari legend "Srimat Shivajirao Maharaj Holkar Indore Samvat 1958" around, Rev: Coat of arms, denomination, English legend "Indore" below. Extremely fine, exceedingly rare./nlThis series was introduced in 1898 to counteract forgeries- counterfeiting of the 2nd series which had begun to proliferate as a result of a sharp fall in the price of Silver. Idle minting machines were reactivated for this pupose but the series was short lived.
