Presentation Inscribed Winchester Model 1866 Lever Action Rifle, #21307, .44 RF cal., 24'' octagon barrel, blue finish, brass frame, forend cap and buttplate, with smooth walnut stock and period buckhorn rear sight. Left sideplate is neatly period inscribed ''F. Lauder from J. McA Jr./January 1st, 1870''. Barrel marked ''Henry's Patent-Oct. 16. 1860/King's-Patent March 29. 1866''. Mfg'd approx. 1869. Condition is fine to near excellent retaining approx. 75-85% blue to barrel and mag tube. Traces of case color to hammer and lever. Frame, forend cap and buttplate show beautiful crystalline golden mustard tones. Stock shows just the slightest nicks and scratches with beautiful slightly wavy straight grain and brown and red hues. Stock fits well with no losses and no apparent sanding and proud lines are retained throughout. Some screws with very slight deformation. Niter-blue loading gate retains approx. 70% vivid blue with just light wear at forward portion. Edges to lifter show only the lightest wear. Action is smooth, bore is very good with only light frosting. A beautiful example of an early presentation Yellow Boy that would be hard to improve upon.
