The lot features two original Pre-Columbian Mayan effigy figures dating to circa 500 A.D. The figures are believed to be from the Maya in Belize and show two human effigy's constructed of terracotta stone. The larger of the two figures shows a male wearing a large headdress and loin cloth with two impressive earrings having a natural patina with red terracotta coloring showing through in a few spots. This larger piece shows some worn and chipped spots, but overall a very well preserved early piece. The second of the two figures shows much wear and patina indicative of its early age and represents a woman figure with large fanning headdress. These both are very unique and fine early Pre-Columbian Neolithic historic pieces. These each measure 4 1/2 inches and 4 inches in length respectively.
