Post-Civil War Era Peabody Carbine, by Providence Tool Co., .50 RF cal., 20'' blue barrel, case-hardened frame, lever and hammer; cartouched walnut stock, with single iron band and ''WC'' cartouche inside oval on left side of buttstock. Many were sold to state militias and foreign governments, with quite a few found in military and sporting configurations and sold thru the factory to the general public between 1865-1878. Condition is excellent retaining approx. 97%+ original blue to barrel with small scratch behind barrel band on left side; very minor thinning to vivid case colors on frame, hammer, lever and trigger. Case coloring to buttplate is vivid and near 98% complete. Stock shows light scuffs and dings. Action is as new, bore is bright with just minor marks that should clean. Est.: $3,500-$4,500.
