Pipe Tomahawk with Catlinite/Banner Stone Inlaid Head. 24" long overall. Bowl is 8 ½" and made of pewter with red catlinite and banner stone inlays in various designs. One side of blade has banner stone and snake design inlay, while opposite side has two arrowheads and a heart. William C. Henry is carved into one of the catlinite arrowheads. The date, November 1901, carved into the other. The file-burned stem is 21 ½" long, made of ash wood. This piece is illustrated on page 112, item 278-1 of the book, which is included in lot; Tomahawks, Pipe Axes of the American Frontier. Provenance: Book and collector's notes.
