Philadelphia style derringer by “Gillespie” marked on breech and lock with cast-steel marked barrel, iron triggerguard, German silver plain mounts, checkered stock, approx. .41 caliber, 6 shallow groove rifling.Checkered walnut stock, no ramrod, in good to very good condition. The metal surfaces show a patina finish with traces of case hardening on lock and breech. Some light erosion and pinprick pitting. The stocks aregood to very good with some darkening from handling, a slight couple of stress cracks in the butt, good sharp checkering, and generally very good overall. The action is tight, the markings are sharp. Gillespie wasan honest competitor to Henry Deringer who produced well-made arms. Est: $1,250 - $2,500
