Excellent plus. The barrel and magazine tube have 98% of the original blue finish with very minor edge wear on the flats and muzzle. The Winchester legend and caliber marking are crisp. The bolt has nearly all of the original blue finish and the loading gate retains about 85% with some minor high-point wear. The receiver has 98% of the fiery casehardened finish. The loading lever has about 95% of the original case colors with some silvering on contact points. The forend cap and hammer have 97-98% of the case colors and the butt plate has about 95% of the vivid colors. The stock and forearm are both in excellent plus condition; nearly all of the original varnish finish is present and wear is limited to some scattered and very minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. This is an outstanding example of a Model 1886 Winchester rifle with spectacular casehardened receiver.
