Outstanding Factory Cased Colt Model 7 1855 Sidehammer Pocket Revolver
This is an excellent example of a Colt Model 7, 1855 Sidehammer Pocket revolver that was manufactured in 1867. This model is found in the serial number range of 11075 to 14000 with a total production of approximately 2,925. The Model 7 has a round loading lever with a Navy type latch and catch. This revolver is complete with a factory case and accessories. The revolver has a high polish blue finish on the barrel, frame and five-shot cylinder. The loading lever, hammer and cylinder pin have a casehardened finish. The one-piece walnut grip has a high polish 'piano' finish. The cylinder is roll-engraved with the Stagecoach Holdup scene and "COLT'S PATENT". The top of the barrel is roll-stamped: "ADDRESS COL. COLT / NEW-YORK U.S.A." in two lines near the breech. The full serial number, "11336" is located on the underside of the barrel, the cylinder and on the butt. All of the visible serial numbers match. The revolver is complete with a mahogany, American style case with purple velvet lining and five compartments. The case contains: (1) a blued, iron, double cavity bullet mold with iron sprue cutter for round balls and conical with "31PKT" stamped on the right block and "COLT'S/PATENT" stamped on the spruce cutter, (2) Pocket Model powder flask with detailed embossed eagle and crossed revolvers on both sides of the body, gold-plated brass top with fixed charger and niter blue spring, (3) Blued, L-shaped nipple wrench/screw-driver and (4) sealed tin of 100 Winchester/Goldmarks percussion caps.

Condition: Excellent. The revolver retains 90% plus of the bright original high polish blue finish on the barrel, cylinder and frame. Finish wear is mostly limited to some minor flaking on the barrel and cylinder and some thinning on the backstrap. The hammer and loading lever have vivid case colors. The cylinder retains at least 95% of the Stagecoach Holdup scene. The barrel markings and serial numbers are crisp. The grip is in excellent condition with more than 90% of the piano finish and some minor finish loss on the right heel. The revolver action is crisp and functions perfectly. The case is in good condition. There are some hairline cracks in the lid but the exterior shows minimal handling wear. The velvet lining on the lid is in very good condition; wear is limited to some minor compression marks. The lining in the case bottom is in good condition with moderate wear. The lining is dusty and discolored from contact with the revolver and accessories. The bullet mold is in very good condition with about 75% of the original blue finish. The powder flask is in excellent condition with 90% or more of the brown lacquer finish on the body and 90-95% of the gold plated finish on the brass top and charger. The flask body is free from dents and shows only light handling wear. The screw-driver/nipple wrench is in excellent condition with most of the original blue finish. The cap tin has not been opened and is in excellent condition but is not original to the case. This is an outstanding example of a Colt Model 7 1855 Sidehammer Pocket Revolver with factory case and accessories.
