Although marked as a Deringer, features are consistent with Slotter & Company production circa 1860-1863. German silver blade front sight and tang notch rear sight, "P" among scrollwork on the left side of the breech, "DERINGER / PHILADELA" on top, and a pair of 24k gold bands ahead of the rear sight. The Deringer address is repeated on the lock, with a punch dot border, scroll engraving on the lock, hammer, accent plate, trigger plate, tip inlay, reverse plate, and the buttplate, border work on the shield escutcheon and escutcheons, and a leaf-like design on the trigger guard finial. Checkered stock, with a Schnabel tip, bird's head butt, and a capbox.

Very fine, with 40% of the original brown visible on the barrel, mixed in with a smooth gray patina. Traces of the casehardened pattern are visible on the breech, with original color on the left side of the hammer. Gold bands are bright, with the silver showing a darker, aged patina in the lower and protected areas and a bit of polish on the raised points. Fine stock, with a couple thin cracks extending from the rear lock screw, minor varnish loss and pressure dents. Mechanically fine.
