This is an original G.C. (Gerry) Wentworth wax bust sculpture titled "Top Hand II". Gerry Wentworth was a Great Falls, Montana artist who grew up in the era just after Charles Russell's life. He was largely self taught and spent the majority of his life working in painting, sculpture and wood carving. Wentworth's works have been widely exhibited in such places as the C.M. Russell Show, the Phippen Art Show and the Frank Tenney Johnson Show. In 1981, he won Best of Show at the Northwest Americana Art Show. The wax bust shows a wonderful depiction of a cowboy dressed in his cowboy hat and a scarf tied around hid neck. The piece is marked "Top Hand II" and has been signed by the artist. The wax original comes with a printed biography of the artist as well as a Certificate of Authenticity which gives rights to the buyer to have the piece cast. The piece is in good condition. It measures 3.25" x 4" and is 8.5" tall.
