This is an original G.C. (Gerry) Wentworth bronze sculpture titled "Afternoon Edition". Gerry Wentworth was a Great Falls, Montana artist who grew up in the era just after Charles Russell's life. He was largely self taught and spent the majority of his life working in painting, sculpture and wood carving. Wentworth's works have been widely exhibited in such places as the C.M. Russell Show, the Phippen Art Show and the Frank Tenney Johnson Show. In 1981, he won Best of Show at the Northwest Americana Art Show. The bronze shows a paperboy from the early 1900's selling the afternoon newspaper. The piece shows fine detail and is in good condition. The bronze sits on a solid walnut hardwood base with a brass placard that reads"Afternoon Edition / G.C. Wentworth". It has been signed by the artist and is numbered 3/20. The bronze measures 4.25" x 5.25" and is 10.25" tall. It comes with a printed biography of the artist and a Certificate of Authenticity. The original gallery retail price for this piece was $1,200.
