This is an original G.C. (Gerry) Wentworth bronze sculpture titled "Riding High". Gerry Wentworth was a Great Falls, Montana artist who grew up in the era just after Charles Russell's life. He was largely self taught and spent the majority of his life working in painting, sculpture and wood carving. Wentworth's works have been widely exhibited in such places as the C.M. Russell Show, the Phippen Art Show and the Frank Tenney Johnson Show. In 1981, he won Best of Show at the Northwest Americana Art Show. This sculpture shows a whimsical depiction of a drunken cowboy on horseback with a bottle of whiskey in one hand. The piece shows great detail and is in good condition. The bronze sits on a solid wood base with a brass placard that reads "Riding High G.C. Wentworth". It has been signed by the artist and is dated "1974". It is numbered 2/10 as well. The sculpture measures 8" x 10" and is 10.75" tall. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and a printed biography of the artist. The original gallery retail price for this bronze was $2,500.
