This lot features a reservation period Northern Plains Native American Indian tomahawk dating to circa 1890-1910’s. The tomahawk shows a solid ash wood haft showing brass tacks. The piece shows a heavy iron head measuring seven inches in length with traces of old black paint on the haft. The original buckskin gasket is still visible between the head and haft at the top. The breather or clean-out plug at the end of the tomahawk is still present but pushed in. The head shows a rich heavy patina indicative of its early age. This is truly a terrific reservation period pipe tomahawk. Provenance: From a historic Native American early weapons collection from the Southeast. Measures overall 24.25” L.
