This is Northern Plains Native American Indian dag knife from the Hudson Bay fur trade era in the Late 18th to early/mid 19th century. The dag shows a double sided blade with steel hilt. The contoured handle is made from solid wood. The Plains Indian dag is in good condition. The wood handle is in the design similar to the "Beaver Back" dag knives and is truly a wonderful piece. The knife is similar and possibly crafted by I.H. Sorby of the Hudson Bay Company, but is not marked (IH Sorby's other dag knives are in nearly the same pattern). It measures 8.75" with a 4.75" blade.
