Number 394 for 3,500 shares to JKP Price. Outstanding vignette of gold placer operation. Minor soiling damage along top edge. Signed by president Proudwater and secretary Raleigh. William Raleigh was a Helena, Bozeman, and Great Falls, Montana Territory, merchant; and one of the owners of the Nevada Creek Placer Mining Company. The Nevada Creek property comprises some 600 acres of ground situated on the east side of Nevada Creek in the great Blackfoot placer district. It is along the western face of the main range four miles south of the Big Blackfoot and thirty five miles northwest of Avon on the Northern Pacific. Operations in the past have been on a limited scale owing to the lack of sufficient water supply to fill the twenty five miles of ditches owned by the owners of the ground and work could only be prosecuted from two to three months of the year but it has now been arranged to largely increase the water supply so that work can be conducted on a large scale for seven months out of the year and the yield will thus be proportionately increased [E/MJ, Engineering and Mining Journal, Volumes 43-44].
