The sphere is a challenging project firstly to turn as it has to be a sphere perfectly round; secondly, a sphere has no beginning or end, affecting the choices the artist has to make when he or she decides on their artistic flare.

Turned and hollowed sphere then carved with a fire form motif.

About the Artist:

Australian artist Neil Turner has been turning and sculpting timber for over 34 years, attending workshops whenever possible to improve his technique and sharpen his focus and skills. In 2011 Neil attained a Diploma of Fine Furniture from the Australian School of Wood in Dwellingup.

Neil’s work has been exhibited in Australia and abroad, and can be found in both private and public collections, including those of The Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, and the Government House in Canberra, Australia.
