'Artillery Carbine III' Converted British military lever-operated breech loading single shot service rifle chambered in .303 British, manufactured by National Arms & Ammunition Company Ltd of Sparkbook, Birmingham circa 1881. Features blued finish with a 21" Metford rifled barrel altered military style front sight, graduated rear sight, single barrel band with bayonet lug, serrated trigger, short lever, small cocked indicator, brown leather sling, smooth wood forend, and straight grip shoulder stock with metal disk and metal buttplate. Right side of the receiver is marked '[crown]/VR, N.A & A. Co. Ltd/1881, and III/1' left side of the receiver [crown]/VR, Enfield/1894, and M.M. 303/A.C. III'. The brass stock disk is marked '3/95, 40.RGA/160'. Includes a .230 Morris conversion kit. Rifle displays an even aged grey patina with traces of its original blued finish retained in the protected areas. Action is mechanically sound, bore is very good and wood stock is good showing water damage & a small chip at the butt.
