(TCF, 1954) Vintage monumental oil painting, originally of Napoleon after he crowned himself Emperor of France, which was skillfully painted over in the face by Fox props dept. in order to depict Marlon Brando in character for publicity use on the film Desirée. 48” x 66” in heavy, gilt-painted wooden frame with original gallery title sticker: “Emperor Napoleon In Coronation Robes” (May 18, 1804. Was crowned on Dec. 2)” and Fox prop dept. ID#32-2-24241. 3 ½ in. inch tear plus three abrasions/holes 1 inch or less in size.
