Maker: US Government or one of its contractors. Approx. Age: Mid to late 1800s. Size: 4.75” mouth and is about 9” long overall. Condition: Has no slobber bar, is rusty and pitted, but in otherwise decent shape for as old as it is. Additional Info: UNIQUE! This model 1859 bit has the US medallions turned upside down! This bit cam from a Missouri collection with the story that it once belonged to a confederate who deliberately turned the US medallions upside down.
