c. 1950s, "STRATO BANK" Rocket and Moon Coin Bank, Duro Mold and Mfg. Inc., Detroit, MI, Choice Extremely Fine. 7.25" long, 3" high molded metal coin bank of a rocket ship flying towards a pockmarked moon. Absent key for bottom plug. Painted metallic green, with red and yellow highlights, minor wear. Produced for "Planter's Bank" of Sikeston, MO, this intriguing bank from the pre-moonwalk era features a release mechanism that would shoot coins into the slot opening of the moon. (Unfortunately, the spring mechanism is broken.) Still, a fabulous piece from the 1950s.
