Powell County. Letter dated Carpenter Bar, July 4th, 1916. Three page letter, fairly easy to read, addressed to W.A. Mitchell in Wallace, Idaho. Discusses mining claim and getting investors, including a potential investor in Spokane who wants to see assay results; "It would take a good many samples of ore and formation to make this plain to anyone, You know it is the only one of its kind in the West." Mentions the property has unaltered black sulphite. Also mentions the impact of World War I on the price of copper: "There is no danger of the price of copper going low while Uncle Sam is going to war..." 5" x 8" Cover has 1916 Avon cancel.
