This signature jacket was stage-worn by Michael Jackson at the 20th American Music Awards in 1993 during the thrilling choreographed performance of his song, “Dangerous.” It is a custom-made black wool single-breasted jacket with black satin lining and features integral white shirt cuffs sewn into the lining which allowed Michael to perform his dynamic movements while keeping the cuff length fixed. Of note is the band of hand-sewn white cloth at the upper right arm; a prototype for the rest of the jackets with armbands which he wore subsequently. The garment remains in remarkable, stage-worn condition and retains a little of Michael’s makeup at the cuffs. Accompanied by a LOA from consignor who received it following Jackson’s exit from stage. An iconic stage-worn garment from this era of his fabled career.
