Mexican War Era U.S. Aston Contract Model 1842 Percussion Pistol
Manufactured by Henry Aston & Co. in 1847. This pistol has a 54 caliber, 8 1/2 inch smoothbore barrel with a swivel, button head ramrod. The lock plate is stamped "US / H.ASTON & CO." in front of the hammer and "MIDDtn / CONN / 1847" vertically behind the hammer. The top of the barrel at the breech is marked "US / JH / P", with the date 1847 on the upper tang. The left stock flat is marked with two inspector cartouches (WAT and NWP). Single inspector initials are found on most of the components.

Condition: Fine. The barrel and action have been cleaned, showing minor flash pitting and some mild pitting on the barrel at the muzzle. The brass is fine. The stock is very fine with sharp original cartouches, some minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
