Mauser Model K98 High Turret Bolt Action Sniper Rifle
This is a late production WWII Nazi high turret sniper rifle manufactured by the Mauser factory that has been fitted with a "cad" marked scope with the correct elevation adjustments from 100 to 800 meters on a dial mounted on top of the scope, rubber eye piece and leather lens caps. The turret mount rifles were considered the most efficient design of the K98 rifles and they were in service throughout the war. The top of the receiver ring is covered by the front turret, the right side of the receiver is marked with a single "eagle 135" proof and the left side has a "eagle 135" and Nazi firing proofs flanking the serial number, with the receiver side wall unmarked. The left rear of the barrel is marked with a Nazi firing proof and "D1001" and "eagle / 135" proof along the top. The left side of the refinished rear scope ring is overstamped with the number "5651". Lens caps are original. The rifle has a stamped trigger guard, floor plate and barrel bands which are secured by a screw. The matching bolt is a correct war time version with the milled safety. The rifle is equipped with a hooded ramp front sight and tangent rear sight graduated to 200 meters, no provisions for a cleaning rod, winter trigger guard and mounted with a laminated stock and handguard with a cupped checkered buttplate and original brown leather sling. The right side of the buttstock is marked with an "eagle / WaA135" proof and the same proof in the grip area.
