Massachusetts Arms Company .28 cal., 6-shot pocket size revolver with Maynard tape primer device, showing hand revolved cylinder with button release, in handmade period case with mold and tape primers, serial #914, referFlayderman, 7a-058. The pistol shows a 3" barrel, 6-1/2" overall; the pistol retains 60-70% original blue on barrel and cylinder, evenly drifting and toning with most of the etching on the cylinder. The frame showstraces of blue going to patina, the tape primer door shows strong traces of blue. The hammer shows 50-60% case hardening; the grips are good to very good with 30-50% varnish, some slight wear at the high pointsand edges. Sharp markings, crisp overall, in old handmade period case with wood partitions and velvet lining. The case is good to very good; the brass mold is unmarked but correct style and 2 tape primer rolls of caps are included. One of only approximately 900 produced shortly before the Civil War.
