This is an excellent exceptionally rare Marlin Fire Arms Company .38 double action revolver from circa 1880’s. This double action revolver features the very rare original J.M. Marlin extractor with a very low serial number of 650. Only the first 2300 Marlin 38 revolvers had the ultra rare J.M. Marlin extractor with the David Hall Rice Patent extractor coming later. The pistol is a break over with a five shot cylinder. Top of the barrel is marked, "Marlin Fire Arms Co. New Haven CONN. U.S.A. Patented August 2, 1887. August 9, 1887." This shows the original hard black ornate rubber Marlin grip on one side with a non matching grip on the other. The firearm also shows the bright nickel finish. The Marlin revolver is in good overall condition. It measures 4" x 7.75". Excellent very rare early gamblers boot revolver pistol.
