MOLIERE, Jean-Baptiste Poquelin dit.- Le Mariage forcé. Comédie. Paris, Jean Ribou, 1668. In-12° : [4]-91 pp. (marge du titre renforcée au verso, mouillure claire à travers le vol.). Broché, sous emboîtage de toile grise moderne (un coin manquant à la dernière garde).
Edition originale, parue sans préface ni dédicace, de cette pièce représentée pour la première fois au Louvre le 29 janvier 1664 et honorablement acceuillie par la Cour. Un ballet accompagnait cette comédie et Louis XIV lui-même y dansait sous le costume d'un Egyptien. Certains voyaient dans cette pièce la transposition de l'affaire du comte de Grammont avec la charmante Miss Hamilton, d'autres pensaient que Molière s'y était tout simplement dépeint lui-même dans le rôle de Sganarelle, inquiet des coquetteries de sa jeune femme.

Payment will be made in Euro's. We do not accept credit cards neither cheques whose total amount exceed 200 EUR or cheques not validated for higher sum.
Terms of sale require buyers to pay immediately for their purchases, which means that lots will be released to them only when full and cleared payment as been received by us
In addition to the hammer price, the buyer has to pay a buyer’s premium of 21%, V.A.T. inclusive, all strictly in cash and in Euro's (EUR)
In case of original art and if the principles of the author’s rights are applicable, an extra 4% must be paid on each hammer price of at least 1250 EUR

Returning an item after the striking of the hammer will not be accepted, whatever the reason put forward. Those items bought on order must be inspected within 8 days after receipt. Any return after this term will be refused.
All items of the catalogue with the mention « n.c. » (non collationné = not inspected) are not subject to return. Neither are those sold in lots (two items or more) works consisting in multiple volumes and periodicals or series.
If you cannot attend the auction, we can execute written bids on your behalf. To ensure a satisfactory service, it is necessary to make arrangements for the services at least one day before the sale.
