Perfume / scent bottle or cruet with applied flowers. Came with a very old lable stating that it is a scent bottle made by the DERBY factory, circa 1820. Similar pieces of unmarked Minton porcelain found in Godden's book on British pottery and porcelain page 227. Godden points out that in the first quarter of the 19th century, much Minton porcelain was not marked and much of it immitated Meissen / Dresden porcelain, which is true of this item.
9inches high.
Round base with pink, yellow and green, raised moulded flowers and foliage in a pretty ring. The body is richly applied with porcelain flowers - roses, tulips, daisies etc. The scrolling rococo handle is richly gilded and has a fan of raised turquoise foliage under the gilded foliage. The stopper is a tour de force of applied flowers of every sort. Fantastic fine detail to petals, stamen and ovaries inside the blooms.
No clear factory marks.
Condition: the usual chips to some of the petals, but otherwise, good shape.
