For auction in this lot is a great example of a Ludwig Loewe & Co. Chilean Contract Model 1895 Mauser Rifle, chambered in 7x57/7mm Mauser. The rifle originates between 1895-1896. The Mauser has a gorgeous look with a straight-pull bolt action, fitted with a flag safety, a rich walnut stock, exceptional blueing on the floor plate, magazine follower, folding ladder rear sight, and barrel. The rifle manufacture was contracted by the Chilean military to the Ludwig Loewe & Company, in Berlin, Germany. The rifle is crafted of higher quality German steel. The rifle is marked in multiple places, including; "E 1970 - Mauser Chileno Modelo 1895 - Manufactura Loewe Berlin." on the receiver. The stock, bolt, and trigger assembly also show matching serial number of "E 1970". The gun is additionally marked with multiple proof marks, and is stamped on the reciever, and butt-stock with Chilean arsenal crests. This premium grade rifle shows very good condition, with a smooth action, 90% + finish, and a bright bore, with strong rifling. The rifle does show some handling marks to the wooden stock, and some subtle wear to the finish. The rifle qualifies as a Curio & Relic Long Gun, and requires FFL Transfer, or NICS Background Check. Serial Number: E1970.
