Available for your consideration is a large aqua blue Japanese Glass Fishing Float. These floats were used to give buoyancy to fishing nets, long lines, and drop lines. These fishing buoys originate from as early as the 1840's - Invented by a Norwegian merchant Christopher Faye, and modernized shortly after by Hadeslands Glassverk. The buoys are referred to as "Japanese glass floats" because most all of the remaining glass floats that exist today originate from Japan, and their ever-booming deep sea fishing industry. This float is believed to originate from the mid-20th century, and shows good condition. There are some tears to the rope netting, and the hanging rope seems to be a modern addition, but the float is still held tightly. The float measures approximately 15" across and tall.
