The lot features an exceptional set of fully top and bottom beaded moccasins from the Lakota Sioux Native American Indians and dating to circa 1890-1910's. The moccasins features an Indian tanned hide construction completely covered in period correct authentic glass trade seed beads with a sky padre blue background having traditional geometric patterns with greasy yellow, corn yellow, medium green, red white heart, semi-transparent violet, Cheyenne pink, chalk white, and semi-transparent dark blue. The ankle shows a fancy beaded edge, a truly wonderful artful addition. The tops of the moccasins show a rare and very desirable Buffalo Bison track symbols with a similar tepee symbol along the bottoms. The set is from the late Indian Wars early Reservation Period and shows extraordinary artisanship and is presented in museum quality very fine condition with little to no bead loss. Fully top and bottom beaded moccasins are exceedingly scarce and would have been used for special ceremonial important occasions. Provenance: From a Historic Museum collection in Eastern Montana. These have been examined by a local expert and found to be a fine authentic set of early moccasins. The moccasins measure 3" x 7.75".
