LUZERN: medallic AR ¼ thaler, Beromünster Abbey, [1]720, KM-3, so-called "Michelpfennige" type, BERO COM DE LENZB FUNDA ECCL BERO, coat-of-arms surmounted by plumed helmet and set on palm frond and olive branch // COLLEGE BERO SVIS BENEV D D, St. Michael holding shield and flaming sword, slaying demon at feet, signed IM below, a fantastic example with lovely old toning! PCGS graded MS65. The "Michelpfennige" of Beromünster were first struck in 1720, on the 1000th anniversary of the founding of the abbey by Bero von Lenzberg. They are recorded in gold and silver in a variety of odd styles and weights.
