Lawyer and signer of the Constitution from Delaware (1732–1808) who also served as an officer during the Revolutionary War, governor of Delaware, and governor of Pennsylvania. Manuscript vellum DS, one page, 16.75 x 14.5, May 9, 1785. As president of Pennsylvania, Dickinson grants "unto the said John Stear a certain tract of Land called 'Stearsbury,' Situate in Allen Township, Cumberland County." Signed in the left margin by Dickinson. The white paper seal affixed to the lower right remains mostly intact. In very good condition, with intersecting folds, light toning, soiling, and wrinkling, and slightly irregular adhesion to signature.
