About the Artist:
Neil Turner wrote this about the artist: We have lost one of Western Australia’s most talented wood artists Jack de Vos. He was a woodturner of exceptional quality and well known for his thin walled classic hollow vessels with exquisite embellishment, carving, and color. He was one of the early trail blazers placing Western Australian woodturning on the world stage, he demonstrated locally, nationally and internationally. His demos were of the highest quality with a constant stream of information on turning techniques, carving, and embellishments. He had the ability to constantly refresh his hollow form’s embellishment’s and carving almost to the point of reinventing himself, with the uncanny sense of alway’s making it look great. Jack was a generous man giving of himself so others could improve their turning and embellishing skills, he seemed to have boundless energy and ideas when woodturning was involved. He was friend to many, his cheeky smile and wit will be sadly missed by all those who knew him. R.I.P.

"I have an acute awareness that the wood, and the trees it comes from, as well as the talent one has to craft fine pieces, are God given.
In my artistic pieces I aim to reflect my appreciation for the majestic beauty of God's creation, as a result most of my artistic pieces are inspired by nature."
