Important Sharps Model 1874 Sporting rifle, Freund & Bro. marked, .40-70 cal., 28” octagon barrel, blue and case hardened finish, wood stocks with checkered iron shotgun butt plate, #158676. This gun is inoverall excellent condition showing approx. 97% original blue on barrel with some minor scattered spots of erosion confined primarily to the right front side of the barrel, approx. 40% original case color on thereceiver with balance gone to a pleasing silvery color; excellent bore, crisp action, sharp markings including “Freund & Bro.” stamped on the top barrel flat near the breech, Freund-marked sights and FreundPatented-marked firing pin; double set triggers, excellent wood with scattered mars and scratches from storage; barrel and receiver serial numbers matching. Factory letter indicates this gun was originallyinvoiced to Edwin S. Harris of New York City on April 18, 1877, and confirms caliber, barrel length, double set triggers with a weight of 10-3/4 pounds and a price of $42 less 20 + 10%. This gun was previously in
