<td width="100%">
After Samuel Walters nautical / maritime themed painting, this is an aquatint engraving on heavy paper with hand coloring of the 19th century British commercial sailing boat, Betsey of Liverpool, is titled: Homeward bound: Passing the Light-ship "Liverpool" and is marked engraved by H. Papprill, or Henry A. Papprill. Estimated age is sometime between 1850 - 1880.

CONDITION: The engraving is in an acid-free mat ready for framing. Size listed is in mat. There was a water spot in the top left margin of the piece that is obscured by the mat. The colors are strong and it is exceptionally detailed. Under loupe there is an obvious pebble pattern to the image. Under light and at an angle on the right side of the piece in picture field there are two thin vertical lines that show as reflective. They do not interefere with the picture but are there. There is also a small (less than .5 mm) damage in one area of the sky that is really hard to see unless you are looking very close. Note the mark as engraved by H. Papprill is slightly degraded. The piece was acquired at an estate auction located in Devon, Pennsylvania in the late 1980s.

I am glad to answer any questions and provide additional photos.
