This lot contains an expertly crafted piece of equestrian and Western history - a Helena Saddlery, custom tooled saddle, from the private collection of DeVores Saddlery owner - Kent DeVore. This excellent piece of craftsmanship shows a majestic bald eagle on each fender, and accented with a wonderful floral motif that spreads across the entirety of the saddle. The seat of the saddle shows a rich chocolate brown color, surrounding the seat are etched, silver colored conchos, each with a scalloped leather base, and leather tassels drooping from the center. The saddle is stamped "Helena Saddlery - Helena, MONT.". Helena Saddlery, which opened its doors in 1890, was the predecessor to "DeVore Saddlery". The name was changed in 1950 when Kent DeVore went into the tack business with his father. The early saddle is believed to originate from the first quarter of the 20th century. The saddle shows good condition, there is some matting to the sheep skin undercarriage. The saddle has a size 14 1/2" seat.
