Nazi Reichsführer (1900–1945) who controlled the SS and the Gestapo and who was one of the most vocal and virulent anti-Semites of the Third Reich. He committed suicide with a cyanide capsule while awaiting trial at Nuremberg. War-dated DS, in German, signed “H. Himmler,” one page, 8.25 x 11.75, April 17, 1944. Promotional document boldly signed at the conclusion in blue ink by Himmler. In part (translated): “SS Brigadeführer Dr. Richard Wagner, up to now having an Army rank of Reserve and R.O.A. Unteroffizier, has been taken over by the command of the Waffen SS effective April 6, 1944, with the rank of SS Reserve Oberscharführer, whereby the level of his education has been taken into consideration.

2. Effective April 20, 1944, SS Reserve Oberscharführer Dr. Richard W a g n er
is promoted to the rank of SS Reserve Untersturmführer of the Waffen SS and being transferred to the Command of the 13.

3. He will be carrying out duties in accordance with special orders by the SS Reichsführer.”

In fine condition, with central horizontal and vertical folds, uniform shade of toning, several official stamps and notations to top portion, a few creases, and punch holes to left edge. Three months later, many of Himmler’s SS officers would be implicated in the assassination plot against Hitler and weaken his hold on the organization.
