This is an original G.C. (Gerry) Wentworth bronze sculpture titled "Spoils of Victory". Gerry Wentworth was a Great Falls, Montana artist who grew up in the era just after Charles Russell's life. He was largely self taught and spent the majority of his life working in painting, sculpture and wood carving. Wentworth's works have been widely exhibited in such places as the C.M. Russell Show, the Phippen Art Show and the Frank Tenney Johnson Show. In 1981, he won Best of Show at the Northwest Americana Art Show. This sculpture shows an Indian warrior celebrating his enemy's defeat. The piece shows fantastic detail and artistic ability. The bronzes sits on a solid walnut hardwood base with a brass placard that reads "Spoils of Victory G.C. Wentworth". The bronze has been signed by the artist. It is dated "1976" and is numbered 6/10. The bronze is in very good condition. It measures 8.5" x 12" and is 17" tall. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and a printed biography of the artist. The bronze originally sold in the gallery for $3,400.
