Full stock American Kentucky rifle, .44 cal., of diminutive size, made for a lady or young squire. The rifle measures approx. 47” overall and only 12” from the trigger to the butt plate. The rifle shows a conversion from flintlock to percussion with fancy engraved patchbox and single trigger; lock plate is secured by two screws and there is an unusual engraving of a hound dog on the tang and breech end of the barrel that may be asignature. The stock has been refinished and repaired with light to almost no sanding and the forend repaired (showing an old brake). The lock is not working. A classic and showy rifle with a great patchbox that waspurchased in the 1950s from an antique store near Hagerstown, PA and looks Southern PA made. Est.: $900-$1,800.
